This Year's Ramble is the "Jackie Robinson Ride"

MITCHELL JONES, Ramble Chair

42nd BCLC Ramble – “The Jackie Robinson Ramble”

A number of people have asked why we are naming this years Ramble “The Jackie Robinson Ramble” and it gives me pleasure to explain.  Baseball great Jackie Robinson was the first player to break the color barrier in 1947 by being the first African American to play in the major leagues. Wearing number 42, he enjoyed an outstanding career with the Dodgers and was a six-time All-Star.  In recognition of his historic career, Major League Baseball retired his number—42—from all MLB teams in 1997.  Hence, our 42nd Ramble is named after Jackie Robinson and has baseball-themed prizes—from a Single to a Home Run- based on distances ridden. Come join in the fun!

As a unique feature of the Ramble, participants will win prizes based on how far they ride:

  • A Single (22-35 miles) will earn a packet of Cracker Jacks
  • A Double (36-65 miles) will earn a Culver’s treat
  • A Triple (66-99 miles) will earn a Portillo’s Italian beef sandwich
  • A Home Run (100+) miles will earn all three above!
